In Ontario, a veterinarian may prescribe medication only when a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) has been established, as required by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO).
Other provinces
In other provinces, prescription decisions follow the rules and professional standards of the applicable provincial veterinary regulator.
